After a year full of industry recognition and critical praise, WhoMadeWho presents a whole remix package for their eighth studio album Kiss & Forget. Offering fresh ideas on the band’s most recent creative opus, the collection brings together seasoned electronic music players with new talent.
The whole Kiss & Forget remix pack
Leading the package is the version of “Saturday” by emerging Belgian genius MAXI MERAKI. Renowned for his performances at Tomorrowland and current US tour, Meraki brings his trademark vivid tones to the remix, turning the ambient soundscapes of the original into a melodic masterpiece. “I poured my soul and inventiveness into this Saturday remix,” says Meraki. “It’s me shared through WhoMadeWho’s beat, not just a remix.”

The remix pack presents a number of unique fresh takes. Selim Sivade, BARON, Meloko, and Konvex working together as a supergroup turns “Sweet Cuddles” into a deep, groove-driven trip. With his unique mix of melodic house and Middle Eastern inspirations, London-based Rockin Moroccin imbues their work with Egyptian singer/songwriter nour, A3LA. With Fresh off their Ultra Records triumph, Copenhagen’s own Tripolism presents a striking interpretation of “You Belong To No-One,” while Spanish house music master Dennis Cruz offers his rhythmic viewpoint on “Sweet Cuddles“. While Berlin-based producer & Panorama Bar resident Massimiliano Pagliara brings his analog-driven sound to “You Belong To No- One,” Portuguese producer Xinobi teams up with French-Malian-Senegalese artist AWEN for a distinctive take on “Bedside,” merging Xinobi‘s indie-electronic sensibilities with AWEN‘s unique Afro-house influences and powerful vocals to create a cross-cultural electronic cut.
WhoMadeWho past year
These fresh remixes add to an already outstanding selection of interpretations put on show all year. Dancefloors all around have been dominated by RÜFÜS DU SOL’s globally praised remix of “Miracle” with Adriatique, Mind Against & Dyzen’s approach on “Children,” and CamelPhat’s rendition of “Love Will Save Me” including RY X. While French deep house producer Alex Wann’s rendition of “Heartless,” WhoMadeWho’s collaboration with Kölsch has become one of the most downloaded remixes from the album run. Adam Ten’s remix of “Kiss Me Hard” became a staple in WhoMadeWho’s renowned hybrid DJ sets at major events including Tomorrowland and Burning Man.
The 12-track compilation is now available on all digital streaming platforms. The seven new exclusive remixes will also be split between two EPs meant especially for electronic music outlets, EP I available today and EP II following on December 20th.

CADMIUM has teamed up with Tara Louise and Electric Range to create a holy trinity of bass in his stunning new single, "The Call" featuring Zack Merci.
The DJ and producer, who recently welcomed his first child, stuns with cinematic production as Louise bursts onto the scene with powerful lyrics like, "I was afraid now I'm frightening / Turn my pain into lightning." She exhibits her range throughout the track through a breathtaking vocal performance with soaring falsettos.
Among the heavy-hitting lyrics comes an equally impassioned performance by Electric Range, whose Julliard-trained instrumentalists saturate each drop with dramatic orchestral flourishes. Though it's hard to pin one down, perhaps the most notable moment in "The Call" comes from Electric Range's violinist, who delivers a precise, unfaltering solo at breakneck speeds.
And chiseling it all into a track that evokes a sense of invincibility and triumph is CADMIUM, whose masterful bass production has landed him on Black Tiger Sex Machine's label, Kannibalen.

Lumasi is wrapping up breakout year with Sun & Moon, a new EP full of deep, psychedelic bass.
Across the five-track project, Lumasi delivers delightfully literal interpretations of each song's title, letting listeners experience his take on their meanings.
Sun & Moon includes the previously released tracks "Mourning Dub" and "Deleted" (with SHMUX). The former has proved immensely popular, its title an ode to the Mourning Dove, whose somber coos are present throughout the track.
Newly released tracks include "Dreamlike," in which disorienting wubs make us feel like we're ventured through a nonsensical dreamland. This then segues into "Deleted," where robotic voices sound like a virus spreading through a computer system.
"Crowd Control" and "Smooth" featuring Ozztin appear last, their stretching downtempo beats like molasses creeping from build to drop and back again. Yawning vowel bass and gentle wind chimes accompany the latter, leaving us thoroughly entranced at the EP's end.

Buku peeled back the layers of what made him the artist he is today and shared the sounds straight from his core.
Whether he's releasing bass anthems fit for the main stage, or techno suited for a sweaty nightclub as Calvin Stanley, Buku's essence is immediately noticeable. His newest EP, The Unraveled Essence, out now on Of The Trees' Memory Palace, is an introspective journey into the core message and motivations that influence his sound.
Buku says the EP isn't just a look at what inspired him in the past, but also a preview of the future. He also revealed in a press release that his late friend, CharlestheFirst, inspired one of the tracks just days after the three-year mark of his tragic death.
"The Unraveled Essence EP is derived from my personal and musical past, present and future," Buku explains. "Derived from my vast spectrum of influences, It's a representation of my true artistic intuition. From dancefloor worthy tracks, to the experimental, to the melodic, to an introspective post-rock-electronic track dedicated to our friend Charles—I feel like I've reached out and grasped musical pillars from my future & past simultaneously..
The opening track "TWM" surprises with an introduction that feels meant for a big city nightclub. That is until he blasts the imaginary venue into space with vibrant, intergalactic synths and intense wobbles. Leaning even more into the bass realm, "Like This" layers a grungy, damp bassline beneath crystalline keys, making for a unique tale of two worlds.
On "Time," Buku recruits Jessy Covets for a refreshing melodic anthem that feels like a dip in a cool spring after the chaos of the first two tracks. With angelic vocals and uplifting production, the duo created a sound that washes over the listener with every note. Calling upon his more experimental side, "You Know The Drill" morphs with a mutating bassline that grows and expands like a badass sci-fi monster.
"Judge Not" is a masterfully produced offering that features intense, crisp production highlighted by layers that feel like water droplets dripping onto a tightly woven drum head. Buku then closes out with an anthem, "The First," which takes its time to build up before bringing the EP home with a flourish.

Fans of EDC will soon be able to enjoy an Aperol Spritz along Phuket's scenic coast while hearing their favorite DJs after Insomniac Events partnered with the aperitif brand for its inaugural festival in Thailand.
Aperol will reportedly host its own pop-up experience, "Aperol Spritz Piazza," which is designed to mirror the vibrance of Italy's iconic piazzas. Its signature orange color is expected to draw the eye and attention of festival-goers, offering a "spot to gather with friends and unwind over Spritzes" away from the festival's main stage.
Aperol's owner, Campari Group, is optimistic that the EDC partnership—along with a slew of brand activations across Phuket—will expand its cultural footprint in Asian markets, according to The Spirits Business.
Insomniac recently announced the lineup for their inaugural EDC Thailand festival, which includes beloved electronic music artists Skrillex, ILLENIUM, FISHER and Tiësto, among others. The event is scheduled for January 17-19 on the grounds of the picturesque Boat Avenue Lakefront.

Out today on Lost in Dreams is Hoang’s and Danny Olson’s ‘Already Gone‘ which is a captivating track that strikes a deep emotional chord in your heart.
The song opens with a slow burn of soft melodies and vocals, gradually building anticipation. Rosie Darling’s vocals are masterful, delivering a raw and emotive performance that draws you in. As the chorus hits, the song hits its peak, creating a powerful and anthemic sound. The contrast between the delicate vocals and the heavy bassline is striking and adds depth to the song. The lyrics explore themes of loss and longing, resonating with anyone who has experienced heartbreak.

Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek has once again cashed out a substantial amount of stock, taking home $28 million from the sale of 60,000 shares. This is a result of a significant surge in Spotify’s stock price, which recently peaked at an all-time high of $502.38 per share, helping the company reach a market cap of $100 billion. Ek’s decision to sell is for obvious reasons and part of a larger trend among Spotify’s key stakeholders. Several other executives are also taking advantage of the company’s soaring stock prices. Resulting in over a billion dollars of Spotify stock traded in 2024 within the company itself.
More details on Spotify elites and their stock trading
Daniel Ek’s 2024 stock sale marks the continuation of a larger and consistent pattern of stock trades. Despite these sales, Ek remains a major shareholder, holding roughly 15.65% of Spotify’s total stock. Spotify’s co-founder Martin Lorentzon has also made significant sales, offloading nearly 1.5 million shares for over half a billion dollars. Chief Product Officer Gustav Soderstrom and Chief Business Officer Alex Norstrom are doing the same thing. They have similarly sold off portions of their holdings, benefiting from the substantial rise in Spotify’s stock price. In summary, the stocks themselves have jumped by more than 500% since November 2022.
How CEOs Get Paid
For CEOs of major companies, stock options are one of the ways they make their large paychecks. Stock prices are often tied to the performance of the company and can result in significant payouts. While Ek’s stock sales are substantial, they are part of a broader trend in corporate compensation. Leaders are incentivized to drive their companies’ market value upwards to reap financial rewards. In many cases, stock options are both a motivational tool and a way to align the interests of executives with those of shareholders.
Summary
Spotify’s remarkable stock performance in 2024 has allowed its top executives to reap substantial financial gains. Daniel Ek’s latest $28 million sale is just one example of the wealth that has been generated within as Spotify continues to grow in both revenue and market cap. As the streaming giant moves forward, it’s clear that stock incentives will remain a crucial part of how its leadership is compensated, and for other CEOs, this model continues to be a key driver of financial success.

Offering a further glimpse into her forthcoming album, We Are Always Under The Same Sky, set for release on January 17th via Anjunadeep, the acclaimed Austin-based Japanese producer Qrion (Momiji Tsukada) unveils her captivating deep house single, ‘Lean Into Light,‘ featuring the ethereal vocals of pinkpirate.
INSERT SPOTIFY LINK
Equally at home on the dancefloor or through headphones, the track showcases Qrion’s exceptional craftsmanship, with each release offering a fresh and nuanced listening experience rich with meaning and emotion. The collaboration with 24-year-old British electronic alt-pop rising star pinkpirate results in a seamlessly harmonious blend, heightened by her delicate, expressive vocals.
‘Lean Into Light’ is the fourth single off the upcoming album, following last month’s ‘Keep On Moving Up,’ and previously released singles, ‘Hush My Heart,‘ ‘Ice Palace,‘ and ‘Miyanosawa.’ Speaking about the new track, Momiji muses, “When I worked on Lean Into Light, I was in a sad place. The pluck sounds in the song were inspired by the rain, reflecting how I felt like I was in a dark tunnel, struggling to find my way out. I wrestled with feelings of regret about my life, searching for excuses to make myself feel better. But eventually, I saw the light coming toward me, guiding me to realize that it’s okay to make mistakes. Those years weren’t something to regret; they were a learning experience. I didn’t share much of this with Pink, but she understood the vibe perfectly when we were in the studio. Her delicate voice perfectly matched the song, and she truly brought it to life. I especially love how she wrote “Memory Stays” – it captured the essence of the track so beautifully.”
Qrion’s Upcoming Album
Qrion’s upcoming album, We Are Always Under The Same Sky, signifies a rebirth for Qrion, representing the next phase of her journey following her debut, written as a reflection of the past. The album is also a celebration of female and non-binary Southeast Asian talent, with features from British-Kongese singer-songwriter Josie Man and Paris-based South Korean DJ, producer, and vocalist DIDI HAN. Qrion teamed up with the American-Chinese animator and designer Zee Yorke for all the artwork accompanying the album.
Melancholic, wistful, and dancefloor-minded, Qrion’s sound ranges from supple, exploratory works to driving house and soul-sampling groovers, always with a light and playful touch – evoking memories and feelings through sound. Her productions have drawn acclaim across dancefloors globally, from her long-running relationship with Anjunadeep to her remixes for Booka Shade and Röyksopp. It’s music for walking in the rain, driving through mountains, or reflecting on memories.

It’s in this spirit of discovery and stepping outside the comfort zone that ‘A State of Trance Year Mix 2024’ invites listeners on a journey beyond the expected. For the first time ever in an A State of Trance Year Mix, the legendary Moby voices the inspirational intro, urging listeners to break free from self-imposed barriers and embrace the limitless potential of the journey ahead. Listen here.
Having evolved from a small radio show into a wide-ranging and far-reaching brand with many different spin-offs, ‘A State of Trance’ is one of the world’s biggest and most popular dance music brands. Built from the ground up since the very first episode of Armin van Buuren’s radio show in 2001, ASOT now entails a globally acclaimed label and a breathtaking event series to boot, drawing tens of thousands of music lovers from all over the globe.

Some might know her as the Liquicity illustrator, some might know her as the artist behind the tunes ‘Set Sail’, and ‘Hello’. But not too long ago, Yue decided to set sail for her own future. She packed her bags at Liquicity, packed up her stuff at her old place, and has moved to Amsterdam, the capital city of The Netherlands.
Fear not, though. She has no plans to quit music or art anytime soon. On the contrary, with time to focus on her own career now, she’s got more plans than ever. Some of them include her upcoming show at UKF15 Drumsheds this weekend, and her debut US tour with Fox Stevenson. We had a chat with Yue and talked all about her inspirations, why she has decided to choose herself, and what’s more to come from her.
Hi Yue! How are you doing?
I’m doing well! I’m in the middle of moving house at the moment. I’m moving from Haarlem to Amsterdam in a few days. All the while I’m still making a lot of music, so it’s been busy to say the least! I recently stopped working at Liquicity to put all the focus on my solo career, which is a very exciting change. Everything’s coming together now.
And how is it to have made the decision to focus on yourself?
Very exciting, like I said. I worked at Liquicity for seven years. It was amazing and I learned a lot there, but I felt that it was time for the next step in my career, to do it all on my own. I have had my own business for quite a while now, but it always seemed like a big step to take this full-time. It’s a little bit scary thing to dive into, but it’s also very fun. It really felt like the right thing to do. I’ve been walking around with the idea for over a year now, because I’ve been touring more, I’ve been releasing my own music as well… It got more difficult to combine with a full-time job.
Talking about releasing your own music… In April you released your first track on Pilot, called ‘Set Sail’. When did you arrive at the point of releasing your own music?
I’ve been thinking about releasing my own music for so long. I used to play cello when I was younger. Then I went to high school and I found out about artists like Skrillex and learned more about the whole electronic music scene. I remember thinking, wow, this is cool, and I started DJing around that time as well, I was around the age of 14. Around that same time, I’ve started playing around in DAWs and learned to produce little by little. It did take me quite a while to really master the art, though. My boyfriend, Fox Stevenson, was the one who helped me dot the i’s in the end. He gave me some final tips and this gave me the confidence I needed to put out my music.
How did you discover your own sound?
My sound is what I like to play, because I’ve been a DJ for a longer time than I’ve been a producer, so a part of my sound comes from that. I also really like a more girly, more poppy sound. But at the same time, I want to be cool and adventurous. I also really like classic drum & bass, like the really old stuff that you might not hear so much now. A lot of influences! My sound is still shaping, but I think that never stops. I think that’s something that always goes on, just like with my art. My sound is poppy and girly now, but maybe it will become ‘cooler’ later. I think that sound is a reflection of who you are as a person.
And who inspires you as a DJ, as a producer?
Emily Makis inspires me when we’re talking about vocals. Koven too. I also really like old Camo & Krooked tunes. Another big influence for me was a snowboard game I grew up with, SSX. There are some Aphrodite tunes on that soundtrack. I think I must have been maybe eight or nine when I played that game. That was my first introduction to drum & bass. Some other artists who inspire me are Document One and Break, because I like funky sounds, the more classic drum & bass, paired with a nice female vocal, I think that’s cool.
You said that you are also working on artwork next to your music. Now that you are focusing on yourself, is that something you’re going to keep doing?
Yes, I think both making music and making art are very important in my life. In a way they strengthen each other. I always make my own artwork for my releases, for my friends and for other people. I think art is just as fun as music. So for me, those two go very well together. And I also really like it when one day I can focus on making music, but the other day I can switch to creating art. I’m really looking forward to doing that.
Sometimes I wake up with a melody in my head, or something I saw on TV that inspired me and then I draw something around that idea. It’s very liberating work. A fixed job is also nice, but it feels so freeing to be able to wake up and decide, today I’m going to work on this and that. Which one came first, music or art? I wouldn’t know. My grandpa and grandma still tell me about all the drawings I gave them when I was little. But I’ve also made music my whole life. I think this is just the way it was meant to be.
Any upcoming plans?
I’m going on tour again with Fox Stevenson and the band next year. We’re going to Europe and North America tour, which is really cool. It’s my first time in the US, so I can’t wait for the people there to hear my music and see my art.
Your first time in the US! What do you expect from that?
It’s exciting! I’ve been to New York once, but not to play. It’s really cool to get the chance to play there, and it’s also nice to do it together with Fox. I like that we both do the same thing. We can support each other and it’s amazing to be able to go to events together and play out together.
You’ve also got your set at UKF15 Drumsheds upcoming soon. How are you looking forward to this?
I can’t wait! Like many people of my generation, I grew up listening to UKF. I used to print out logos from artists I thought were cool. I had a huge UKF logo on my wall as well. I looked at it every day. If I could tell the 14 year old Fleur that this would happen, she would be very proud. I really look forward to it, I think it will be very fun. It’s really a dream that comes true. I’m going to play a set that is very much me. I haven’t played in London that often, so for some people, this is going to be the first time they see me play out. I’m going to play a lot of my music and new things. I’m just going to have a lot of fun and then I think that other people will also enjoy it.

Twenty-five years of house music history demands more than just another compilation album.
Defected Records understands this, which is why their anniversary offering comes in the form of a stunning 12″ x 12″ hardback tome that feels as weighty as their influence on dance music.
“DEFECTED: 25 YEARS IN THE HOUSE” isn’t your typical sanitized label biography. Written by former Mixmag editor Nick Gordon Brown and edited by Defected’s General Manager Simon Dawson, the book lets the stories tell themselves through first-hand accounts from the label’s sprawling family of artists, DJs, and staff.
Across 320+ pages, designed by Steve Rowland and wrapped in Trevor Jackson’s distinctive art direction, the book chronicles everything from the label’s birth pangs to its current position as a global house music institution.
But Defected isn’t just looking backward. Alongside the book’s limited 1500-copy run, they’re releasing the Together boxset – a forward-thinking project that pairs label veterans with emerging talents across thirteen vinyl records.
The tracklist reads like house music’s past and future colliding: Dennis Ferrer’s “Hey Hey” gets reimagined by Da Capo & Kitty Amor, Kings of Tomorrow’s “Finally” receives the Mochakk treatment, and TSHA takes on “Sunday Shoutin’.”
In an era where dance music can feel increasingly fragmented, both the book and boxset serve as reminders of house music’s enduring power to unite. Limited to 1500 copies and arriving just in time for the holiday season, this collector’s set isn’t just documentation – it’s house music history you can hold in your hands.

Marshmello and Space Laces set the rave dial to overdrive with their new collaboration, "Rave Repeater," a chaotic crowd-pleaser that’s equal parts adrenaline and anarchy.
Out now via Mello's Joytime Collective, the track is unapologetic in its intent: it wants to leave you wrecked, sweat-soaked and begging for one more round.
With brass horns punctuating each drop like warning sirens, the first arrives like a rabid beast, all gnashing synths and barking bass. The duo then goes nuclear in the second drop, which trades trap music for relentless, four-on-the-floor techno brutality. It's a jarring pivot that feels like the floor shifting beneath you, dragging you into a darker, grittier realm of pounding kicks and jagged rhythms.
"Rave Repeater" arrives in the wake of Marshmello's sixth album, The Roots, a return to form for the masked EDM superstar, who in years past had penned a slew of contemporary hits in hip-hop, country and even Latin music charts.
