During a recent data breach involving Ticketmaster, the personal data of 560 million users worldwide was stolen by a hacker group. The group has named themselves ShinyHunters and is claiming they have access to payment details, passwords, and personal information of Ticketmaster-Live Nation users. Consumers are being warned to look out for potential signs of compromise.
Ticketmaster has not addressed or acknowledged the situation even though it may put users of the service at high risk for theft. The hackers plan on selling the data for $500,000 (USD) on an online database but many experts believe the claim is false. There is no telling if the information has been compromised until Ticketmaster puts out an official statement.
The global data breach is still being investigated by Australian officials in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). They have assessed that 1.3 Terabytes of credit card details, addresses, and names may have been exposed to the hackers. It is being suggested to hold off on logging into any Ticketmaster or Live Nation accounts because the group may still have access to the network.
