THE WAREHOUSE PROJECT WHP Records BAKEY Wouldn't Believe cover art

Legendary Manchester brand The Warehouse Project start WHP Records with the help of the independent label group Disorder.

The Warehouse Project has been an important part of Manchester’s artistic scene since it opened in 2006. It has been a mainstay of UK music scenes from Boddingtons Strangeways Brewery to Store Street and now to the prestigious Depot Mayfield.

Between September and December, the main season is a show that happens every year.

Artists like Disclosure, Interplanetary Criminal, Four Tet, LCD Soundsystem, and Nia Archives play there. It’s one of the most important dance floors in Europe.

Since WHP started in 2006, our passion has been to work with artists in a meaningful, impactful way and create these once in a lifetime dancefloor moments. With the advent of WHP Records and the partnership with Disorder we unlock a whole new way of doing that and this album project from Bakey feels like exactly the right place to start. – WHP founders Richard McGinnis and Sam Kandel

WHP Records hires DJ/producer Bakey from Leeds for their first release.

Bakey will be a WHP resident for 2024 and will be putting out his first record through the label.

This Friday, Bakey’s first song from the project, “Wouldn’t Believe,” comes out.

The label plans to put out new songs from well-known artists all through the year.

WHP Records will serve as the incubator for emerging and exciting talent from around the world, creating a powerful ecosystem where live will feed into recordings and building fans. The pedigree surrounding this partnership is unrivalled within the industry and I am excited for the future of independent record companies like ours. – David Dollimore, co-founder of Disorder Records

What’s Disorder Records

David Dollimore started Disorder Records last year with Tom March, Chairman and CEO of Capitol Music Group US.

Dollimore used to be President of the Ministry of Sound and the RCA Label Group. Disorder’s first signing was the electronic pair Disclosure, who have been nominated for a Grammy.

Their summer hit “She’s Gone, Dance On” was BBC Radio 1’s “Hottest Record” at first, got over 20 million plays in its first month, and is now on BBC Radio 1 and KISS FM’s “A List.”

Todd Edwards, JOY (Anonymous), Salute, DJ Seinfeld, Peggy Gou, Sammy Virji, and Dom Dolla have all backed it, and Disclosure has even played the main stage at Parklife and Glastonbury.

Disorder wants to work with and sign DJs, musicians, artists, brands, and labels. They are part of a new wave of independence that will become a symbol of the music counterculture.
