Ray Volpe Drops Long-Awaited 8-Bit Banger, "GAME OVER"

After nearly a year of teases, Ray Volpe has finally released his long-awaited track "GAME OVER."

As you might imagine from the title, "GAME OVER" is inspired by the sounds of classic video games. A booming voice resembling the narrator of a fantasy game utters the title before an 8-bit melody gives way to a stomping, frenetic bass drop.

Beneath the EDM.com Class of 2022 artist's masterfully produced bass is a flurry of retro video game sounds that feel like the spaceship that abducts you in Galaga. The final product is a fun tribute to the lights and sounds you'd hear from the world's almost-extinct arcades.

"GAME OVER" follows Volpe's mainstage performance at Excision's Lost Lands Festival, which returned to Ohio last weekend. Before that, he sat down with EDM.com to discuss how he created his fan-favorite track "SONG REQUEST" and the international phenomenon "Laserbeam."
