After releasing mostly on Never Say Die (until their unfortunate closure earlier this year) and Deadbeats, Effin is back on Disciple for the first time since 2019 tomorrow with “Playtime.”

The last time Effin released with the label was on Round Table with Jayceeoh for “Level Up” in 2019. Comparatively, “Playtime” is far more flighty and light-hearted, but you’d be mistaken if you let the generic-sounding build lead you into a false sense of security.

Effin says of the tune, “‘Playtime’ builds like a big room house record but drops into a wall of bass and crunchy madness. It smashes a lot of my favorite genres and ideas together, and ended up being a crazy tune that is just as fun to play out as it was to make.”

Sure enough, the build could easily come from something in Marshmello’s camp with its punchy snares and sweet vocal leads and synths, but the drop is 100% filth. Still, the sweet elements permeate throughout to give the whole project a bit more variety and personality.

Listen below, and enter Effin’s giveaway here for a chance to win a limited edition 500-piece puzzle of the track art! “Playtime” is officially out everywhere on Disciple tomorrow.
