After his well-reviewed first single “Jealous” in 2023, Mochakk comes back to CircoLoco Records. This time he presents a lively 6-track dual EP called “Locomotiva Ibiza 2099.”
The first part of the collection, called “Locomotiva Ibiza 2099 I,” came out on July 26th.
It has a title track that is surprisingly slow and features VTSS. The Polish artist, who is known for her hard techno sound, gives us a nice change of pace with twinkling synths and a speed just above 125 bpm on her first collaboration with Mochakk.
Mochakk’s single track on the EP, “The Line,” comes next. It has a slow house beat with blazing snares and an irresistible synth line. This is one of Mochakk’s first releases with his own vocals, which could be the start of a new creative phase.
The dominant vocal hook flows into the beat so smoothly that it guides the listener’s movements.
“Locomotiva Ibiza 2099 (Dub Mix)” is the last track on the EP. It’s a stripped-down but powerful version of the original.
The second chapter of Locomotive Ibiza 2099 will be released this September
The second EP, “Locomotiva Ibiza 2099 II,” with three strong tracks, is set to come out on September 6th.
The first song is called “No Boys Allowed,” and it features Canadian rapper Tommy Genesis. She has worked with JPEGMAFIA and Charli XCX before.
Her soft voice blends hypnotically with Mochakk’s production, going well with the low-slung bassline, chugging kick drums, and drifting synth melody.
The next song is “Estribeira,” which features Artisian, a fellow Brazilian singer and good friend. This simple track is built more directly for the dancefloor. It includes voice and siren samples, heavy kick drums, and a punchy baseline.
It’s a simple DJ tool that has been used a lot in Mochakk’s sets and is now being shown to everyone.
“No Boys Allowed (Street Mix)” is the last track on the EP. It has a darker vibe than the previous track, which is more upbeat.
Tommy Genesis’ words are added to this slower mix.
The “Street Mix” has a bit more bass and features very sharp snare drums and hi-hats, which are a tribute to Mochakk’s deep love of bass.
