For their profoundly poignant tune “Amado,” now available on Adriatique‘s esteemed Siamese imprint, Maxi Meraki collaborates with Orsay. Meraki’s expected debut on the label comes from the track, which has been a mainstay in Adriatique’s X party series all winter.
‘Amado‘ crosses conventional genre lines to combine the hypnotic pace of melodic techno with the natural warmth of Afro-house components. Resonant piano melodies dance above a foundation of complex percussion in the production, which masterfully combines analog synthesis and acoustic components. The end effect is an emotionally intense trip as well as a dance floor trigger.
For Orsay, who wrote the song as an homage to his late father, the release has great personal meaning. “‘Amado,’ which means “loved ones,” came out of a place of intense thought and memory,” Orsay says. “A voice message from my father inspired the melodic structure; I turned that into the emotional core of the track.”
After Orsay’s ‘Natura’ premiere went so well, this partnership offers a strong beginning to 2025. Industry heavyweights such RÜFÜS DU SOL, WhoMadeWho, Adriatique, and Carlita have already embraced the single as a potential defining sound of the electronic music scene of the year.
Maxi Meraki’s Siamese debut marks a turning point since it shows his capacity to strike the mix between dancefloor utility and emotional depth. The release explains why Adriatique has been promoting the tune during their most recent shows: it allows the dancefloor to generate moments of group catharsis while preserving a close emotional link with listeners.
‘Amado’ is evidence of the ability of electronic music to turn personal experience into universal feeling, therefore bridging memory and movement, pain and celebration, past and present.
