Continuing to build momentum with each new release, Producer and DJ LUCRE recently dropped his latest single, ‘Grind,’ once again highlighting his signature sound and putting forward his distinct Techno energy. With its dark, gritty edge, the track epitomises LUCRE’s approach; leaning on the raw, driving sounds that ground his sonic identity, it has no doubt come as a strong entry to his ever-growing catalogue.
Now, we sit down with LUCRE to dive into the moments that shaped ‘Grind;’ from early studio sessions to the thinking behind its narrative, we gain an insight into his process and look ahead to his next steps as both an Artist and label head.
Hi LUCRE! How’s it going?
I am well, thanks for having me!
Let’s start with the concept behind ‘Grind’ – what first sparked the idea for this track?
My goal was to create a raw, driving Techno track that incorporated a distinctive spoken word element. I aimed for a dark, emotionally resonant atmosphere that felt both intense and unique.
This track feels like a balance between raw power and emotional depth. Was that contrast something you aimed for from the start?
Absolutely.
The vocalist on ‘Grind’ is your wife, Claudia Fijal – what was the creative process like working with her on this track?
This isn’t our first collaboration, so we’ve developed a strong creative workflow. I knew early on that the vocal would be a concise, spoken word piece. Once the foundation of the track was laid, we focused on finding a single, powerful word that would leave a lasting impact.
How did the narrative around the relentless pursuit of success take shape in your mind while producing ‘Grind’?
The relentless pursuit of success drives everything we do, whether it’s the music we create, the shows we perform, or the energy we bring to each project. This track is a sonic journey that embodies that forward momentum and hits with intensity.
Was there a particular moment in the studio when you felt the track had really come together?
Once the word “grind” was dropped in, it all just fit.
The basslines and percussion hit hard – how did you approach crafting the low-end and rhythm section for this one?
I designed this track to truly resonate on powerful sound systems, it’s an experience meant for the live setting, not just streaming. I put a strong emphasis on the kick and bassline, ensuring they were meticulously balanced and crafted to be the driving force of the track.
Were there any new production techniques or tools you experimented with while working on ‘Grind’?
I’ve never dedicated as much attention to the low end as I did on this track.
You’ve released ‘Grind’ through your own label, Sound Market – can you share the vision behind this new creative endeavour and what’s next for the label?
The reality is that most labels offer limited support unless they’re well-established. I’ve come to recognize the strength of my own ability to market and promote my music. Given my background in marketing and business, it makes sense to invest energy into building my own label. Not to say I won’t sign onto other labels, but every artist should have their own label to grow alongside them. Sound Market will eventually become a space for supporting and showcasing emerging underground talent. Stay tuned.
Finally, what’s next in your release pipeline?
I’ve got three new tracks lined up for release this summer, stay tuned and keep listening!
As LUCRE continues to shape his path with intention and intensity, ‘Grind’ stands as a clear reflection of his evolving sound and committed mindset. With more releases on the way and his label, Sound Market, set to grow, it is clear that his focus remains firmly on pushing forward – both creatively and on his own terms. So, be sure to stay connected with LUCRE as his journey continues to unfold, keeping up with him via social media for updates on new releases, projects, and performances.
