As the year comes to an end, we are looking back on the tracks that defined 2024. With just a few short weeks before we say goodbye to 2024, we would love to revisit our EDMTunes top picks for the absolute best original tracks. Each track was nominated by our staff, and voted in a battle of the soundscapes. Now, let’s celebrate with this year’s Year in Tunes – Top 15 Original Tracks of 2024.

15. Danny Avila feat. Rome Fortune – ‘YES B!TCH’

The Spanish Techno tastemaker starts us strong on the list with this powerful and commanding track. The Mainstage Techno label head knows how to get the party started. With several outings on John Summit’s Experts Only label, he has had a big year.

14. Martin Garrix & Third Part feat. Oaks & Declan J Donovan – ‘Carry You’

With a track full of soul and nostalgia, the Dutch producer makes it into our list alongside Declan J Donovan, Third Party and Oaks. The euphoric feeling within this track resonated in our heads all year, opening up our hearts.

13. Rezz – ‘CAN YOU SEE ME?’

Space Mom left us speechless with the release of her album, CAN YOU SEE ME? and the title track is nothing short of disgustingly good — and creepy in the best way possible. Besides multiple B2B shows with Deadmau5 as REZZMAU5, Rezz brought back lots of her original influences to craft the new era. Is 2025 ready for her?

12. Adam Port, Stryv & Malachiii (Keinemusik) – ‘Move’

A song that does not need any introduction, ‘Move’ was our Afro House top pick of the year. We heard this track everywhere, including unofficial edits at Afterlife shows and an official remix with Keinemusik and Camilla Cabello. “Girl, I really like the way you…

11. Lane 8 & Kasablanca – ‘You’

A song that inspires lots of hope, the track was featured on Lane 8’s stellar album Childish. The year started with lots of emotion for the production Duo Kasablanca, as one of its members went through chemo to combat cancer in early 2024. Nevertheless, Micky remained victorious, and the group went on to conquer the remainder of the year.

10. Sharam, Adam Beyer, Layton Giordani, Green Velvet – ‘PATT (Party All The Time)’

A reimagining of the original track, Drumcode head recruited masterminds Layton Giordani and Green Velvet, to give us one of our fave Techno tracks of 2024. With a filthy drop, heavy basslines, and tasteful vocals, this track had us dancing from Ultra Miami to Tomorrowland Belgium. Technically you can call it a remix, but we’re assuming it as an original this time.

9. Disclosure – ‘She’s Gone, Dance On’

A very Disco-friendly and glorious return, the UK House producers and siblings took us all by surprise with their comeback to the worldwide stage. With incredible performances around the globe and multiple appearances at major festivals in the U.S., Disclosure’s got us latched onto them once again, including the delicious track ‘She’s Gone, Dance On’, taking its deserved single-digit spot at number 9.

8. Sultan + Shepard feat. The Kite String Tangle – ‘Memories’

The Melodic House producers brought joy and serenity with their ingenious album Endless, Dawn at the beginning of the year. What we didn’t expect after said milestone was yet another 6-track EP that reigned through the last couple of months. ‘Memories’ is that track that we will remember through thick and thin as we approach the end of 2024.

7. Eli Brown, Layton Giordani & OFFAIAH – ‘When I Push’

As we approach the best of the best, we encounter Eli Brown and Layton Giordani, yet again with a banger that blows the speakers up each time. The Techno friends were really happy with this one, as the kicks and rumbles accounted for hours and hours of dancing. If you don’t believe us, ask for our Spotify Wrapped.

6. RÜFÜS DU SOL – ‘Break my Love’

The Alt-Indie EDM trio came back, just like clockwork, to bless us with their newest album Inhale / Exhale. After their introductory track ‘Music is Better’ started the summer strong, ‘Break My Love’ made its way into our top 6 with its attitude and seriousness that set it apart from the rest of the album. We can’t wait until we catch them on their tour in 2025.

5. Max Styler, Gorgon City – ‘Touch’

The Realm label leaders Gorgon City impress us yet again with a distinguished collab from one of House’s most prominent new names, Max Styler. This Tech-House banger is an incredible showcase of mixed styles from the producers. Moreover, its sound design and engineering make for a fantastic journey, which kicks off our top five.

4. RÜFÜS DU SOL – ‘Lately’

And they’re back! The Australian trio swept us off our feet with ‘Lately’. Its lyrical prowess and deep melodies remind us why we keep supporting RÜFÜS years and years after ‘Innerbloom’. They got us learning…

3. Dom Dolla – ‘girl$’

If “girls” actually needed somebody, that would be Dom Dolla. The Aussie House star delivers a sassy and powerful groove with his hit song ‘girl$’, finessing its way into our top 3.

2. John Summit, HAYLA – ‘Shiver’

With the unstoppable momentum from ‘Where You Are’ which earned its top spot for original track in last year’s Year in Tunes, John Summit returned full-throttle to start the year with one of his most vulnerable works. ‘Shiver’, which delivers strong emotions perfectly expressed through HAYLA’s vocal range, opened up the soundscape for Summit’s debut album Comfort in Chaos.

Honorable Mentions

Before we reveal our top original track of the year we want to highlight those that were so close to making it into the list, but did not quite get there. Each of these tracks received an equal number of votes from our team.

Max Styler, Oscar L – Addiction

HUGEL – I Adore You

Seven Lions – Not Even Love

Tiësto – Thank You (Not So Bad)

John Summit – Palm of My Hands

1. John Summit, Sub Focus & Julia Church – ‘Go Back’

Did we expect any less than Daddy Summit and Sub Focus? This Tech House and Drum & Bass hybrid track blew our minds away into the deep collective consciousness out of nowhere. This is one of those tracks that segments John Summit as one of the best in the scene. Alongside Drum & Bass giants Sub Focus and the impeccable vocals of Julia Church, this track stole our hearts all the way to number 1. And we’re not afraid to say, after exactly seven months since its release day, down to the day, we’re still singing it like it’s the first time.
