[EDMTunes] Amy Wiles And Leena Punks Land Follow-Up Anjunabeats Collaboration, ‘Heard It All Before’

February waves goodbye in true Trancy fashion today.

The Anjunabeats female duo of the moment is back. Amy Wiles and Leena Punks have collaborated again, this time with vocals from flowanastasia, on a new Trance track called ‘Heard It All Before’. After their highly successful debut conjoint work ‘Sweet Feeling’, the bar was high for this release. And I think they’ve crushed it.

Amy Wiles, a regular artist on Anjunabeats, has released several successful tracks on the label, ever since her ‘Biding Time’ solo release in 2021. Once an Anjunabeats Rising star, she’s made her way to the very top and is now a recurrent face representing the A-label. Her sound has shifted towards old-school-tinted Trance, also making her one of my personal heroes for bringing this kind of Trance back to the spotlight.

Leena Punks, on the other hand, has a career many would envy. She got into music after finding her father’s vinyl collection. She started as a radio host and then performed at clubs in various cities. She’s been featured on BBC Radio 1, KISS FM, and SiriusXM, and she just completed a 2024 full of touring, to now be a resident DJ at E1.

‘Heard It All Before’

After topping the Breaks chart on Beatport with ‘Sweet Feeling’, Amy and Leena’s next track aimed for the stars. And they have, in fact, topped their past work with this one. Delicate yet euphoric, the track talks about heartbreak while lifting you up with those unmistakable Trance saws and 909 racks we all love.

Leena recalls the origins of the song: “I wrote a euphoric breaks record last year about a painful breakup with very emotional chords and melodies in the drop and breakdown. I sent it to Amy, and she loved it. It was great to see how our experiences and creativity came on this record and turned it into a big old-school trance banger. Also, it’s always great to work with one of your best mates who’s also a talented producer. Flowanastasia’s incredible delivery and lyrics gave me goosebumps and the record a more crossover feel”.

And to her words, Amy adds, “I just knew when Leena sent over the initial idea for HIAB that I had to work on it. The melodies and chords were very emotional, which is what I love. It’s great to hear how all of our styles have come together on this one, turning it into a commercial old skool trancey-sounding banger, and flowanastia’s lyrics and vocals have added that mainstream/crossover touch that we were after!“.

flowanastasia, a vocalist with a decade-long career, was in charge of adding the memorable toplines to ‘Heard It All Before’. With BBC Radio 1 features and even past involvement with Anjuna by working with Genix, she was the appropiate voice to call for the task. She says, “Feeling the hypnotic vibe in the music reminded me of being ‘on loop’ in past toxic relationships – like the emotions of being stuck in negative cycles – so I wanted to represent that in the lyrics“.
