The illustrious London dance/electronic music hotspot, Drumsheds, had encountered dangers of going under because of unfortunate incidents that happened in the past year. According to an article from Mixmag, those incidents include a stabbing and two deaths that involved drug use. On January 8, the Drumsheds venue received an amendment that allows it to keep their near-1,500-capacity venue to operate that capacity. That amendment came from the Enfield Council, which granted permission to Drumsheds to remain open yesterday after the council conducted a license review of the venue.

The London Centric publication added that the process of the license review from the Enfield Council had also involved members of the community who gathered at the council’s Civic Centre to discuss the future of Drumsheds in front of three councilors on the licensing committee. In the end, the councilors side with Drumsheds and allowed the venue to continue retaining their license and operate as usual with “modified conditions”. Drumsheds will continue to host nightly events and these modified conditions include varying levels of security at its gigs depending on the size and nature of the specific events. Shown below is the statement from councilor Susan Erbil on how Dreamsheds can still operate as usual but with the couple new conditions moving forward.

Councillor Susan Erbil explains how Drumsheds can still operate as usual with the modified conditions described in the license review

“Enfield Council’s primary concerns remain the safety and wellbeing of its residents. Today, the licensing sub-committee heard the representations provided to them by the police and representatives on behalf of the venue management and agreed that the premises licence holder should retain their licence with modified conditions. Council officers and the police will continue to monitor the premises and undertake compliance checks but it is the premises licence holder’s responsibility to ensure the conditions are upheld.”
