Apple Music Introduces AI-Powered “Automix” Feature For Song Transitions

Apple Music has just rolled out an exciting new feature called “AutoMix”, designed to give your listening experience a fresh, continuous flow. This innovative tool uses artificial intelligence (AI) to smoothly blend and mix songs together, much like a professional DJ would.

AutoMix became available with the recent release of iOS 26, Apple’s latest operating system update. For Apple Music users, this means you can now enjoy “unique transitions” between songs, making your playlists feel more connected and dynamic. Instead of abrupt stops and starts, AutoMix helps one song fade expertly into the next, creating a more immersive sound journey.

While other music services, like Spotify, have offered similar features, such as “crossfade” for years, Apple states that AutoMix takes things to the next level. Spotify’s crossfade typically only blends the very beginning and end of tracks. AutoMix, however, goes deeper by using “time stretching” and “beat matching”, backed by the brand’s own AI model.

With features like this one being more and more common each time, we can only wonder if one day, just like in the productivity sector, humans will become practically useless in the field of the arts. Leaving existential dread aside, though, You can find out more about the new features introduced in Apple’s iOS 26, including Automix, by clicking here.
