Adam Bayer and Chris Avantgarde have dropped their debut collaboration ‘Desolate Lands’. It is a superb marriage of Adam’s tough streamlined sound and Chris’ widescreen approach. It is gritty and driving, and the ethereal vocal adds the perfect touch.
The excitement surrounding Beyer’s first album in over 20 years continues to build. Following the LP’s eponymous first single, ‘Explorer’ which dropped in March, and the well-received ‘Hypnotic’, a collaboration with rising producer HNTR feat. Kygo, highlights have been coming thick and fast.
They include the 12,000 person Drumcode party at Drumsheds (featuring Adam Beyer b2b Vintage Culture) a wild Drumcode Pop up event at an off license in London, while Beyer featured on two billboards in Leicester Square and Stratford to celebrate his takeover of Spotify’s Techno State playlist. Most recently, Beyer dropped his first BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix since 2006 and linked with Layton Giordani for the divine ‘Alto’, that paired with ‘Taking Back Control’, an album standout that blended elements of pop and trap with techno.
The next album chapter is ‘Desolate Lands’, a grandiose electronic composition that superbly merges Avantgarde’s immersive widescreen production touch with Beyer’s slick dancefloor-focused arrangements. The results are thrilling. Adam Beyer had this to say:
“Chris and I have been hanging out a lot the past year or so. He sent me a half-finished idea, and I took it from there, added drums, synths, rearranged it, and added a small but emotional vocal sample. This one’s gotten a massive reaction.”
