No, not for good. But Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, aka The Chainsmokers, have signed up with fledgling space tourism company World View to perform at the edge of space, approximately 20 miles above the Earth, making them the first artists to do so, according to AP.
βWe have always dreamed of going to space and are stoked to collaborate with World View to have this adventure and experience,β said The Chainsmokers in a statement. βWe know the views of both Earth and space are going to be incredible and inspiring and we hope to leverage this flight for creativity on future projects.β
The Chainsmokers will be on the inaugural expedition slated for 2024.
APΒ writes, βPicking The Chainsmokers for the honor was, in part, a personal decision as well as an attempt to excite a younger audience. [Ryan Hartman, CEO at World View] said he watched as his youngest son belted out lyrics from the duoβs songs and was inspired by the bandβs popularity. He explained the flight to the pair over dinner.β
No doubt the performance will be live streamed with some incredible views, but weβll have to wait a couple of years to see it in action.
